Orientation on Teacher Guardian System Conducted for School Heads and Teachers in Pakyong District
Pakyong, 4 September: The District Project Office, Samagra Shiksha, Education Department, Pakyong District, organised an orientation program on the Teacher Guardian System at two separate venues on 3rd September.
The sessions were held at the Rurban Hall, ADC (Dev), Pakyong, for heads and teachers of Senior Secondary and Secondary schools, and at PM SHRI Dikling SSS for heads and teachers of Junior High Schools (JHS) and Primary Schools.Principal/HM along with one teacher from 115 schools attended the programme.
The objective of the program was to familiarise attendees with the Teacher Guardian concept and ensure its effective implementation to support students' academic improvement and overall well-being.
The Teacher Guardian System is an innovative approach designed to enhance student welfare and academic outcomes by assigning each teacher the role of a mentor or guardian for a small group of students.
This initiative aims to strengthen teacher-student relationships, provide personalised support, and closely monitor students' progress, thereby fostering a supportive environment within schools to boost student engagement, motivation, and overall well-being.
Shri Narayan Mishra, JD (Adm) cum CEO In-charge, DEO Pakyong, briefed the gathering on the objectives of the program and urged school heads to implement the Teacher Guardian Concept diligently for the betterment of students. He also addressed issues related to teacher workload, disaster management programs, the daily update of PM Poshan data, and other administrative concerns.
Shri Bhakti Prasad Sharma, JD DEO Pakyong, emphasised the importance of academic monitoring and requested heads of institutions to concentrate on strategies for academic development and ensure the effective implementation of FLN activities.
Smt. Gita Sharma, Deputy Director, DEO Pakyong, delivered a detailed presentation on the Teacher Guardian System, covering its introduction, objectives, and strategies for effective implementation.
Mr. Krishna Prasad Dawari, CRCC DEO, Pakyong, highlighted ongoing activities under the Nipun Bharat Mission/FLN and presented a Result Analysis Report of Term-I examinations through a PowerPoint presentation.
During an interactive session, school heads raised several issues, including the need for better student guidance, low parental involvement in teaching and learning activities, and low attendance at parent-teacher meetings. There was a consensus on the need for school counsellors to address student issues more scientifically.
The programme was hosted by Shri Kailash Sharma AD and Shri Kamal Acharaya CRCC.
The Pakyong District has already formulated and disseminated a district-level action plan for academic development to schools at the beginning of the session. The interactive session also included a discussion on the follow-up of this district academic improvement plan.
The program had the presence of Shri Kumar Pradhan Joint Director Rongli, Shri KK Sharma Joint Director Rangpo Sub-Division, as well as Deputy Directors from all block offices, officials from district and CRCCs.
