Investors Meeting held for Promotion of Investment in the State.
Shri Tshering Thendup Bhutia, Hon’ble Minister, Commerce & Industries Department and Tourism & Civil Aviation Department met investors from Delhi and Bangalore on 30th July, 2024.
The meeting was also attended by the Secretary, the Tourism & Civil Aviation Department, the Director, Commerce & Industries and other Senior Officials of the Department.
Detailed discussion was held for the establishment of air connectivity from Pakyong to Bagdogra & Delhi, establishing Water ATMs across the state and establishing a Brewery.
Hon’ble Minister had a detailed discussion with BLADE is a US-based small aircraft operator, the team looking to operate small aircraft from Pakyong to Bagdogra initially and Pakyong to Delhi as an expansion plan later, the team also visited Pakyong airport for a detailed survey and Happy with the maintenance of Pakyong airport and expressed the feasibility of immediate flight operation.
The team will be submitting a detailed proposal within one week time for flight operation.
An investor from Bangalore expressed interest in establishing a brewery in Sikkim to manufacture Beer from Barley, Wheat, Rice& Maize. Investment worth is Rs. 70 Cr with employment generation of 100 manpower/day.
The team also met Shri Bedu Singh Panth, Hon’ble Advisor, Excise Department to explain the project.
Water ATMs is also another important project in which Water vending machines can be installed at multiple locations in Sikkim to tender purified water to the local public and tourists at a minimal price. This project will enable the public for access to mineral water at the lowest price and also avoid the use of plastics to contribute to maintaining a clean environment. Local entrepreneurs can manage these water ATMs.
Hon’ble Minister pursuing other potential projects for boosting investment in Sikkim by local investors as well as investors from outside to strengthen the Industrial sector and augment employment opportunities for the aspiring local youths of Sikkim.
