The Department of English, Sanchaman Limboo Government College, successfully organised a day-long literary programme featuring a lecture and creative writing workshop by the distinguished poet, translator and academic Robin S. Ngangom on 2 November 2026 at Gyan Kunj-G18.
The morning session began with a welcome address and the traditional offering of a khada to the resource person by students of the Department of English. Ngangom delivered a thoughtful and wide-ranging lecture titled “Northeast Poetry in English: An Overview.” Drawing on his long engagement with the region’s literary landscape, he traced the evolution, concerns and distinctive voice of poetry written in English from Northeast India. The afternoon session opened with the formal release of the Department of English postcard and bookmarks by Robin S. Ngangom in the presence of faculty members. The postcard and bookmarks feature the college academic block Gyan Kunj and photographs titled “Butterflies on Campus,” taken by faculty member Jigdol T. Gyalpo Bhutia. The programme concluded with a token of gratitude presented by faculty member Ms. Diki Lhamu Lepcha. The formal vote of thanks was delivered by the Head of the Department, Dr. Reep Pandi Lepcha, followed by book signing and a group photograph with the distinguished poet.
