Demonstrating high operational readiness and deep community commitment, personnel of the 72nd Battalion, Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Yuksum, successfully extinguished a fast-spreading fire in a commercial cardamom plantation earlier today, preventing significant economic loss and potential danger to nearby residents.
The emergency firefighting operation was carried out under the visionary leadership and guidance of Shri Jai Prakash, Commandant, 72nd BN SSB, and the direct operational supervision of Shri Narayan Ram Khadav, Second-in-Command.
According to official sources, the incident took place at approximately 09:35 AM in an expansive cardamom field located within the area of responsibility (AOR) of SSB Coy Nambu. Upon identifying active flames threatening to engulf the entire plantation, the Coy Commander, Assistant Sub-Inspector (General) Pradeep Mohan Vahile, immediately rallied all available force personnel stationed at the post.
The SSB quick-reaction team reached the spot within minutes equipped with firefighting implements. Confronting thick smoke and volatile terrain, the jawans battled the blaze relentlessly, successfully creating fire breaks and bringing the flames under full control before they could spread to adjoining agricultural lands and inhabited clusters.
