New Delhi, 27 October: Hon’ble Speaker, Sikkim Legislative Assembly, Shri Mingma Norbu Sherpa, attended the 12th BRICS Parliamentary Forum 2026 held in Samvidhan Sadan, Parliament House, New Delhi on October 26, 2026.
The event was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Shri Om Birla. The 12th BRICS Parliamentary Forum hosts presiding officers, speakers and parliamentary delegations from 11 BRICS member countries and 10 partner nations.
Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi also interacted with parliamentary delegations from BRICS countries on the occasion.
The inaugural address was delivered by Hon’ble Speaker Lok Sabha Shri Om Birla, Hon’ble  Deputy Chairman, Rajya Sabha Shri Harivansh and the welcome speech by Secretary General , Lok Sabha Shri Utpal Kumar Singh.
Guided by the theme “Fostering Parliaments for People-Centric Development,” the 12th BRICS Parliamentary Forum underscores a fundamental democratic principle: institutions achieve their true purpose when they translate people's aspirations into meaningful progress.
The delegates also joined the cultural evening at the Samvidhan Sadan.
