Soreng district secured first place nationally in the health and nutrition-themed sector in June 2026 quarterly Delta rankings under the Policy Commission's aspiring district program.
Soreng's outstanding performance with focused leadership, inter-departmental coordination and per cent access to major health indicators

Soreng district has secured first place nationally in the health and nutrition-themed sector in June 2026 quarterly Delta rankings under the Policy Commission's aspiring district program. This is a significant achievement of the district's continuous efforts to improve health and nutrition outcomes through focused implementation, inter-departmental coordination and service flow to the last level.
Soreng got first place at the national level in the health and nutrition quarterly in June 2026, according to the CHAMPION OF CHANGE DASHBOARD. Thus, the overall composite score of the district increased from 49.5 in January 2026 to 55.5 in June 2026. With this, Soreng got third place overall in the Delta ranking.
100% excellent presentation on important indicators of health and nutrition.
This achievement is the result of a focused effort by the district administration to ensure one hundred per cent access to major health and nutrition performance indicators under the aspiring district program. This includes regular pregnancy checkups, maternity care in health institutions, newborn baby care, vaccines, tuberculosis identification and treatment, strengthening health organisation, referral services and nutrition.
Pregnancy health test four or more times in major health indicators to be monitored under the program, pregnancy registration in first quarter, access to registration, frequent hemoglobin test, gender ratio at birth, institutional maternity, presence of skilled health workers in home delivery, breastfeeding rate within an hour of birth, low birth weight, architecture of birth weight, dog in children Related to the confidence Tendency to seek treatment in case of infection, complete vaccine, identification of tuberculosis patients and success of treatment, converting health institutions into health and wellness center, compliance of criteria at primary health centers, working first referral unit, specialist healthcare and maternity room and maternity surgery room including quality certified etc.
Similarly, nutrition indicators include identification of supplementary nutrition to pregnant women, low weight in children below five years of age, decreasing severe malnutrition and moderate malnutrition, regularly conducting village/urban health, cleanliness and nutrition day and availability of their own building for Anganwadi centre.
District administration focused intervention.
Under the administrative supervision of Soreng District Collector Mr. Dheeraj Subedi, the district administration has given a special emphasis on regular review of health indicators, inter-departmental coordination, spot monitoring, deficiency identification and ensuring per cent access to qualified beneficiaries and services.
The district administration is aiming to ensure that beneficiaries are not limited to regular operating programs. The District Administration has been cooperating with the Health Department, Women and Child Development, Senior Citizen and Disabled Welfare Development Department, Panchayati Raj Organisations, Hope Workers, ANM, Frontline Health Workers, Self Help Group, Non-Government Organisations and Community Volunteers to provide health services effectively in remote and difficult access areas.
Excellent performance in Tuberculosis elimination
Soreng district has maintained a 94-98 per cent tuberculosis treatment success rate under the National Tuberculosis Elimination Program. According to the latest report, the treatment success rate is 97 per cent (81 out of 83).
Under the TB Free India Abhiyan, the district has conducted 146 Ayushman Health Camps during the 9th month and conducted health checkups for 7,636 people.
The community was engaged through the active participation of ASHA workers, self-help groups, Panchayati Raj organisations, non-government organisations and volunteers. Handheld X-ray and Sputum NAAT tests were used for confirmation.
Tuberculosis testing has also been extended to government offices, hydropower construction sites, orphanages, old age homes and goons. Along with this, deposit training, laboratory capacity, reporting, site monitoring and treatment continuity have also been strengthened.
Improving maternal and child health
Due to the focused implementation of RMNCH+A/RCH service has enabled, 100 per cent ANC registration, 99 per cent institutional maternity and 99 per cent vaccination in children below 15 years.
This has played an important role in health consultation, free transportation service, door-to-door visits and regular monitoring and follow-ups by HOPE workers and health workers.
Testing and strengthening in prevention of non-common disease
The district is integrating high blood pressure, diabetes, tuberculosis and HIV testing. High blood pressure and diabetes testing have been completed in more than 85 per cent of the targeted population.
Health camps, door-to-door visits and various health interventions have been conducted to expand health access to remote and difficult places. Regular review and capacity improvement of health workers have also made this work more effective.
Close to the mental health care community
The district administration's 'Hello Man' initiative is providing free mental health services in the community in collaboration with the Mental Health Action Trust located in Kerala. In this, the primary health centres are conducting weekly clinics and providing home services for patients with high needs and unable to reach health institutions.
112 patients have been registered under this program so far, while 126 patients have been contacted. Counselling services are provided through 13 of these camps. Currently, 91 patients are under active treatment.
Important achievement achieved through collective effort.
The first place achieved in the health and nutrition-themed sector is the result of district-level continuous leadership, managed monitoring and collective efforts of the health system and community.
The district administration has expressed its heartfelt gratitude to the Health and Family Welfare Department, Women and Child Development Department, Senior Citizen and Disabled Welfare Department, ASHA Workers, ANM, Frontline Health Workers, Panchayati Raj Institutions, Self Help Group, Non-Government Organisations, Cooperative Partner Organisations and all the people of Soreng for this achievement.
District Collector Shri Dheeraj Subedi has mentioned this achievement as a result of continuous support and guidance received from the honourable Chief Minister and Hon'ble MLAs for the initiative related to good governance of the state government.
The district administration has also expressed gratitude for timely response, necessary help and guidance received from the Policy Commission.
The district administration has committed to meeting shortcomings and ensuring hundred percentage access to remaining health and nutrition by continuing the pace of this achievement in the coming days. Also, the aim is to further strengthen performance in all five subject areas under the aspiring district program.
This achievement for Soreng district has been established as a key stepping stone of the journey moving towards a more result-oriented, inclusive and public-centred district development.
