On 18th September, 2026, the Hon’ble Speaker, Sikkim Legislative Assembly, Shri Mingma Norbu Sherpa, and the Hon’ble Deputy Speaker, Sikkim Legislative Assembly, Smt. Raj Kumari Thapa, accompanied by senior officers of the Sikkim Legislative Assembly, undertook a study tour to various places of historical, cultural, ecological and tourist significance in and around Cape Town, South Africa.
The study tour was organised by the Parliament of the Republic of South Africa as part of the 69th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference (CPC).
During the visit, the delegation explored Robben Island, a UNESCO World Heritage Site; Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden; Mooiberge Strawberry Farm; the vineyard at Groot Constantia; Cheetah Outreach Zoo; and other places of tourist interest in and around Cape Town.
Following the conclusion of the conference, the CPA Sikkim delegation is scheduled to depart from Cape Town for Singapore on 19th September, 2026 to undertake a post-conference study tour.
