Sikkim University Affiliation Team Visits Sikkim Government College, Namchi; MoU Signed with SIST Chisopani.
Namchi, 25 August: A team from Sikkim University, comprising Prof. Sanjay Dahal and Dr. Arun Rai, visited Sikkim Government College (SGC), Namchi, on 25 August 2026 as part of the affiliation process.
The visit focused on the verification and review of documents related to temporary affiliation for postgraduate (PG) programmes and permanent affiliation for undergraduate (UG) programmes.
The affiliation team thoroughly examined the relevant documents and institutional records.
The visit was attended by Prof. B. B. Pradhan, Director, SIST Chisopani, along with Dr. C. P. Khatiwada, Assistant Professor of Physics, SIST Chisopani, representing the institution. The Principal of Sikkim Government College, Namchi, Prof. Deepak Tewari, along with Dr. D. R. Dahal and Mr. Tilak Bardewa, also participated in the proceedings.
On the occasion, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was formally signed between Sikkim Government College, Namchi, and Sikkim Institute of Science and Technology (SIST), Chisopani, in the presence of the members of both institutions.
The MoU was signed by Prof. Deepak Tewari, Dr. D. R. Dahal and Mr. Tilak Bardewa on behalf of Sikkim Government College, Namchi, and by Prof. Sanjay Dahal, Sikkim University, Dr. Arun Rai, Sikkim University, Prof. B. B. Pradhan, Director, SIST Chisopani, and Dr. C. P. Khatiwada, Assistant Professor of Physics, SIST Chisopani, representing the collaborating institutions.
The MoU aims to promote academic and institutional collaboration, exchange and sharing of facilities, expertise and resources between the two institutions. Such collaboration is expected to support teaching, learning, research, academic activities and institutional development.
The collaboration will also contribute towards the institutions' efforts related to NBA and NAAC accreditation and quality-assurance processes. Both institutions have agreed to continue working together and to undertake collaborative activities in the future.
As part of maintaining proper institutional records, the collaborative activities undertaken under the MoU will be systematically documented through photographs, videos and other appropriate records.
The signing of the MoU marks an important step towards strengthening cooperation between Sikkim Government College, Namchi, and SIST Chisopani and is expected to create opportunities for meaningful academic and institutional collaboration in the years ahead.
