Sikkim Rifle Association Reaches Guwahati for the 13th North East Zonal Shooting Championship 2026.
Guwahati, Assam | 24 August 2026
The Sikkim Rifle Association has officially reached Guwahati, Assam, today, 24th August 2026, to participate in the 13th North East Zonal Shooting Championship 2026, scheduled to be held from 25th to 30th August 2026 at the Kahilipara Shooting Range, Guwahati, under the aegis of the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI).
The Sikkim contingent is being led by President Shri Sanjay Budhathoki, with Team Manager Shri Sumit Sharma and Head Coach Shri Rohit Soni, along with 11 athletes representing the state in the 10-Metre Air Rifle and 10-Metre Air Pistol disciplines.
Upon their arrival in Guwahati, the Sikkim team was warmly received by Shri Anirban Dutta, along with **Mr. **Assam, a former Mr. India, Mr. Assam and Mr. North India, who extended his warm welcome and encouragement to the visiting contingent.
As part of the team’s official engagements, the Sikkim Rifle Association contingent also had the privilege of visiting the office of Shri Megha Nidhi Dahal, IAS, Hon’ble Secretary, Department of Finance, Government of Assam and Managing Director, Assam Industrial Development Corporation, Government of Assam, at Janta Bhawan Secretariat, Dispur.
Shri Dahal congratulated the Sikkim athletes on their participation and conveyed his best wishes for a successful performance in the upcoming championship. His encouragement and support have been deeply appreciated by the Sikkim Rifle Association and the entire team.
The athletes will now compete in the 13th North East Zonal Shooting Championship 2026, from 25th to 30th August 2026, in the 10-Metre Air Rifle and 10-Metre Air Pistol events, alongside shooters from across the North Eastern region.
The participation of the Sikkim team marks a significant milestone in the development of competitive shooting sports in the state. The Sikkim Rifle Association remains committed to providing a structured platform for young and aspiring shooters of Sikkim and taking the state’s shooting talent to the national level.
The Association extends its best wishes to all the athletes and officials representing Sikkim and hopes that the contingent will perform with discipline, determination and sporting excellence and bring pride to the state.
