Inter-School Poem Recitation and Spell Bee Competition.
Gyalshing, 24th August: An Inter-School Poem Recitation Competition for the Elementary Level and Spell Bee Competition for the Primary Level was successfully organised by the Eco Club of Govt. Tathang Junior High School today as a part of the school’s Golden Jubilee Celebration 2026.
The programme was graced by the gracious presence of the Chief Guest, Hon’ble Zilla Panchayat Darap- Sindrabong Territorial Constituency, Shri J.B. Limboo, along with Guest of Honour Shri Tashi Wangdi Bhutia, Deputy Director, Yuksom BEO, and distinguished guests including Shri I.B. Limboo, Assistant Director, PRI Rimbi-Melli Aching GPU; former AD (PRI) Shri Basant Kumar Rai; Retired Major of the Indian Army Shri Mohan Limboo; former Headmaster Shri B.B. Rai; SMC President Shri L.B. Limboo, and other distinguished guests.
The programme commenced with the presentation of bouquets to the respected guests by Headmaster Shri Prem Kumar Subba, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp and the singing of the National Song, “Vande Mataram,” by the students of Govt. Tathang JHS. The welcome address was delivered by Mr. Iksa Hang Limboo, GTM, followed by the presentation of a token of love to the Chief Guest by the Head of Institution.
The first phase of the programme, the Inter-School Spell Bee Competition, was conducted by Mrs. Dawa Dolma Sherpa. The second phase, the Inter-School Poem Recitation Competition, was beautifully conducted by Mrs. Reena Rai, GTA, who also served as the announcer.
The English poem recitation was judged by Shri Tashi Wangdi Bhutia, Deputy Director, while the Nepali poem recitation was judged by former AD (PRI) Shri Basant Kumar Rai. Both judges shared valuable feedback and constructive observations with the participants.
The Headmaster, Shri Prem Kumar Subba, shared his views on the significance of the Golden Jubilee Celebration 2026 and warmly welcomed and thanked all the guests, participating schools, teachers, students and supporters for their presence and contribution.
Students from all participating schools took part in the competitions with great enthusiasm, confidence and courage. The competitions provided an excellent platform for students to showcase their linguistic skills, confidence, creativity and talent.
In the Spell Bee Competition, Govt. Boom Melli Primary School secured the First Position, while Govt. Tathang JHS secured the Second Position. In the Poem Recitation Competition, Govt. Timbrong JHS secured the First Position in both English and Nepali, while Govt. Melli Aching Secondary School secured the Second Position in English, and Govt. Tathang JHS secured the Second Position in Nepali.
The winners were awarded trophies and certificates, while all participating students were presented with certificates in recognition of their enthusiastic participation.
The distinguished guests also shared inspiring and encouraging words with the students. Shri Tashi Wangdi Bhutia, Deputy Director, shared insightful knowledge and words of blessing, while Chief Guest Shri J.B. Limboo also addressed the gathering with encouraging and thoughtful words.
The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Mrs. Utpanna Rai, GTA, expressing sincere gratitude to all the dignitaries, judges, participating schools, teachers, students and members of the organising team. The entire programme was beautifully anchored by Mrs. Reena Rai, GTA, and concluded successfully in a warm and celebratory atmosphere.
