Rabong Marks 80th Independence Day with Patriotic Fervour and Cultural Splendour.
Rabong, 15 August 2026 (IPR): The 80th Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour and enthusiasm at the Sub-Divisional Office, Rabong, today.
The celebration was graced by the Hon’ble MLA of 09-Barfung Shri Riksal Dorjee Bhutia, as the Chief Guest. The programme was attended by Shri Sonam Pintso Bhutia Chairman Power Department, Shri T T Bhutia Advisor Land Revenue Department, Shri Shiva, OSD to the Hon’ble MLA, Shri Kumar Rai, Shri Yenthen Bhutia OSD Building Department, the Hon’ble Zilla Panchayat President and Panchayat Members of Rabong Sub-Division, retired servicemen and bureaucrats, Heads of Offices, government officers and staff, teachers and students, along with members of the public.
The Chief Guest unfurled the National Flag, followed by the rendition of the National Anthem and an impressive band display by students of Sikkim Public School, Rabong. The programme commenced with a welcome address delivered by Shri Deepak Lamichaney, BPM (SLRM).
The message of the Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim was read out by Shri Saran D. Kalikotey SDM, Rabong, while the message of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim was read out by Shri D.P. Dahal, ADC, Rabong.
As part of the celebration, government employees were felicitated in recognition of their dedicated service and contribution to public administration. The occasion was further enlivened by colourful cultural performances presented by students of Demazong English Academy, Ravangla; Deythang J.H.S.; PM Shri JNV, Ravangla; and PM Shri V.C.G.L. S.S.S.
Addressing the gathering, the Hon’ble Chief Guest extended warm greetings on the occasion of Independence Day and underscored the importance of unity, dedication and collective responsibility in furthering the development of Sikkim and the nation.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Shri B.B. Tamang, BDO, Rabong, followed by refreshments and lunch.
