AgriStack – Digital Crop Survey (DCS) Training-cum-Meeting Conducted at Pakyong.
Pakyong, 11th August: The Agriculture & Horticulture Department, Pakyong District, in coordination with the IT Section, Krishi Bhawan, successfully organised an AgriStack – Digital Crop Survey (DCS) Training-cum-Meeting at the ADC (Development) RDD Rurban Hall in Pakyong. The programme was conducted in two sessions to facilitate the participation of officials and field functionaries from different blocks of the district.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Smt. Sangita Basnett, Deputy Director, Agriculture Department, who welcomed the participants and highlighted the importance of the Digital Crop Survey under the AgriStack initiative for strengthening agricultural data management and evidence-based planning.
An overview of the AgriStack – Digital Crop Survey (DCS) was presented by Smt. Rebecca Gurung, Deputy Director, Agriculture Department, who elaborated on the objectives, significance, implementation strategy, and expected outcomes of the survey. She emphasized the importance of timely and accurate data collection to support farmer-centric services and policy interventions and also clarified various technical aspects of the DCS process for the participants.
Shri Gagan Gurung, ADO, Pakyong Block, shared his field experiences and insights gained during the pilot implementation and preparatory activities of the Digital Crop Survey. He also delivered a brief presentation, providing practical guidance and valuable lessons from the field.
The gathering was addressed by Shri Bikram Rai, Joint Director (IT), who underscored the pivotal role of technology in transforming agricultural governance and ensuring the efficient implementation of the AgriStack initiative.
Shri Harka Lamichaney, Assistant Director (IT) and Shri Manisha Dhakal, CPMU, conducted a detailed presentation and hands-on training session on the DCS application, enabling participants to familiarise themselves with the digital platform, survey methodology, and operational procedures.
Delivering the keynote address, Shri Tshering Chophel Bhutia, Additional Director, Agriculture Department, emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts among all stakeholders for the successful implementation of the Digital Crop Survey. He urged all field officials and functionaries to undertake the survey with dedication, accuracy, and accountability to ensure the generation of reliable agricultural data.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Shri Tashi Gyamtso Bhutia, ADO, who expressed gratitude to the resource persons, participants, and organising team for making the training programme a success.
The proceedings were ably conducted by Smt. Binita Chettri, ADO, who served as the Master of Ceremonies.
The training programme was attended by all Deputy Directors, Agriculture Development Officers (ADOs), Horticulture Development Officers (HDOs), Agriculture Development Officers (ADOs), Agriculture Inspectors (AIs), Horticulture Inspectors (HIs), field functionaries, supervisors, and surveyors associated with the Digital Crop Survey. A total of approximately 400 participants attended the programme in two batches.
The training is expected to significantly enhance the capacity of field personnel and ensure the smooth and effective rollout of the Digital Crop Survey (DCS) across Pakyong District under the AgriStack initiative.
