Awareness Programme on Sustainable Rural Livelihood Organised at Bhusuk Naitam GPU.
Gangtok, 27 July 2026: The District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW), Gangtok District, under the Women, Child, Senior Citizen and Divyangjan Welfare Department, organised an awareness programme at Bhusuk Naitam GPU under Nandok BAC on the theme "Empowering Rural Livelihood: Integrating Sustainable Horticulture Development, Dairy and Livestock for Economic Prosperity."
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Ms. Nisha Subba, Gender Specialist, who also informed the participants about the various schemes and initiatives under Mission Shakti aimed at the empowerment of women.
The programme was attended by the SWI of Bhusuk Naitam GPU, local officials and members of the public.
The resource person, Ms. Tashi Choki Bhutia, Deputy Director, Horticulture Department, delivered an informative session on various Central and State Government schemes for women's economic empowerment through sustainable horticulture. She highlighted livelihood opportunities such as mushroom cultivation, plantation and other horticultural activities that can improve rural incomes and promote self-reliance.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Ms. Prasina Rai, Gender Specialist, who also informed the participants about the One Stop Centre (OSC) and its vital role in providing integrated support, protection and assistance to women facing violence and distress, thereby promoting women's safety and empowerment.
