Quarterly Inspection of Child Care Institutions Conducted in Soreng District.
Soreng, Sikkim: In compliance with the provisions of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 and the rules framed thereunder, a Quarterly Inspection of the Child Care Institutions (CCIs) in Soreng District was conducted by the District Inspection Committee to assess the standards of care, protection, rehabilitation, health, safety, education, and overall well-being of children residing in the institutions.
The inspection covered three Child Care Institutions functioning in the district. During the visit, the committee examined statutory records, infrastructure, hygiene and sanitation, nutrition, healthcare facilities, educational and vocational support, counselling services, child protection mechanisms, staff deployment, and compliance with the provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act and related guidelines. The committee also interacted with the children and staff members to assess their welfare and address any concerns.

The committee appreciated the efforts made by the managements of the institutions in ensuring the care and protection of children. Suggestions and recommendations were also provided to further strengthen institutional care, improve service delivery, and ensure full compliance with the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015, and the applicable rules and standards.
The District Administration reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the rights, welfare, and holistic development of children in need of care and protection through regular monitoring, inter-departmental coordination, and continuous improvement of child care services.
