The Hon'ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri Om Prakash Mathur, participated in the Rath Yatra festival organised by the Shri Jagannath Cultural Committee.
Today, a grand Rath Yatra was organised by the Shri Jagannath Cultural Committee at the Thakurbari Temple Complex located on MG Marg. On this auspicious occasion, the Hon'ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri Om Prakash Mathur, graced the event with his presence.
At the inauguration of the program, the Governor participated in the traditional 'Pahandi Anushan' ceremony held at the Thakurbari Temple Complex. Subsequently, a special 'Rath Puja' was performed for the commencement of the Rath Yatra on MG Marg. The Hon'ble Governor, along with a large number of devotees present, performed the rituals with devotion and then participated in the ritual of pulling the Rath.
On this occasion, the Governor said that the Rath Yatra is not just a symbol of religious faith, but it is a celebration of our social unity, mutual harmony, and rich cultural pride.
The event was attended by the Honourable MLA of Gangtok constituency, Shri Dile Namyal Barfuppa, senior administrative officers of the state, distinguished citizens, and a large number of devotees.
