SPECIAL INTENSIVE REVISION (SIR) 2026 GANGTOK DISTRICT

The Office of the District Election Officer, Gangtok, is pleased to inform the general public that the first phase of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), 2026 has been successfully completed. based on the enumeration forms submitted by eligible electors during the revision process, the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Sikkim, has published the Draft Electoral Roll on 5th July 2026.
As part of the revision process, pre-revision activities were carried out from 30th May 2026 to 28th June 2026, which included the distribution, collection, and submission of Enumeration Forms from electors. During this period, extensive field verification and awareness activities, including the deployment of mobile vans, were undertaken by the concerned Electoral Registration Officers (EROS), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROS), Booth Level Officers (BLOs), and other election officials across all Assembly Constituencies (ACs) of Gangtok District.
Gangtok District has a total of 1, 22,240 registered electors. During the first phase of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), 2026, a total of of which 1, 08,022 enumeration forms have been digitized. During the revision process, 3,387 deceased electors, 4,199 absent electors, and 4,890 permanently shifted electors were identified through field verification.
The period for filing Claims and Objections has now commenced and will continue till 4th August 2026. During this period, notices are being served to electors whose names are not linked with the 2002 Electoral Roll. Such electors are required to establish their eligibility by submitting the prescribed supporting documents before the concerned Electoral Registration Officer through the Booth Level Officer (BLO). In addition, eligible citizens may apply for inclusion of their names, correction of entries, deletion of names, or file objections relating to the Draft Electoral Roll by submitting the prescribed forms to the concerned BLOS or through the designated online portal.
After the disposal of all claims and objections in accordance with the prescribed procedure, the Final Electoral Roll will be published by the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Sikkim, on 6th September 2026.
The District Election Officer, Gangtok, appeals to all eligible electors to verify their particulars in the Draft Electoral Roll and ensure that their electoral details are accurate and up to date. Active public participation is essential for preparing a complete, accurate, inclusive, and error-free electoral roll.
