Social Forestry Division Gyalshing Conducts Roadside Maintenance Drive under Mero Bato Mero Bot Initiative.
Gyalshing, July 6: The Social Forestry Division, Forest and Environment Department, Gyalshing, carried out a comprehensive maintenance drive along the Pelling–Darap road today as part of the ‘Mero Bato Mero Bot’ initiative, in line with the State-wide celebration of Sikkim Paryavaran Parva under the theme, ‘Leave a Green Legacy’.
The drive focused on the maintenance of roadside tree fencing, cleaning and upkeep of gardens, and the beautification of designated selfie points to enhance the aesthetic appeal and environmental value of the area.
The programme was led by the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Social Forestry Division, Gyalshing, Mr Arun Gurung.
The initiative had active participation from representatives of the Himalayan Tamu Samaj (Singyang-Chumbong), Singyang Phamo-Mani-Lhakhang Kashmal, and officials from the Public Works Department, Gyalshing.
The collaborative effort reflected the shared commitment of government departments and local community organisations towards environmental conservation, public cleanliness, and the promotion of sustainable green practices across the district.
