Soreng Wildlife Range under the West Wildlife Division celebrated the sixth day of Paryavaran Parva at Chakung with enthusiastic participation from local representatives, departmental officials, taxi drivers and community members.
The programme was graced by Shri Deepak Gurung, Zilla Panchayat, Chakung Territorial, as the Chief Guest. The programme was also attended by Ms. Nisha Subba, DFO, Wildlife Soreng/Gyalshing, Shri Krishna P. Dahal, Range Officer, Wildlife Soreng, Smt. Karuna Darnal, Panchayat President, Chakung GPU ,Panchayat members of Chakung GPU and the staff of Soreng Wildlife Range.
As part of the programme, a cleanliness drive was conducted with active participation of the taxi drivers of Chakung, Panchayat representatives, Forest Department officials and staff. The waste collected during the drive was properly segregated and sent for appropriate disposal.
The programme also included maintenance and aftercare of plantations raised under the Mero Bato Mero Bot (MBMB) initiative from Chakung Bazar to Zoom, with participants contributing towards the upkeep and protection of the planted saplings.
Earlier, addressing the gathering, Range Officer, Wildlife Soreng sensitised the participants about the significance and objectives of Paryavaran Parva and urged everyone to actively participate in environmental conservation activities. DFO Wildlife Nisha Subba, in her address, appealed to the local residents to take care of and protect the saplings planted under the Mero Bato Mero Bot (MBMB) initiative, emphasising that with proper care, these plantations would beautify the roads and enhance the local landscape in the years to come.
The event concluded on a positive note, reinforcing the need for sustained efforts and continued collaboration among all stakeholders to safeguard the environment for future generations.
