Kolkata, 03 July, 2026: Hon’ble Speaker, Sikkim Legislative Assembly Shri Mingma Norbu Sherpa along with Secretary Sikkim Legislative Assembly Shri Lalit Kumar Gurung attended the inaugural session of the two days orientation program organised for newly elected members of the 18th Legislative Assembly of West Bengal Assembly organised jointly by the West Bengal Legislative Assembly and the Parliamentary Research and Training Institute for Democracies (PRIDE) of Lok Sabha.
The two-day program was inaugurated by Shri Om Birla, Hon’ble Speaker, Lok Sabha, in the presence of Shri Kiren Rijiju, Hon’ble Union Minister, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs, and Shri Suvendu Adhikari.
Hon’ble Chief Minister, West Bengal, Shri Harivansh, Hon’ble Deputy Chairperson, Rajya Sabha, Shri Ritabrata Banerjee, Hon’ble Leader of Opposition, West Bengal Legislative Assembly and Shri Rathindra Bose, Hon'ble Speaker, West Bengal Legislative Assembly.
Hon’ble Speaker Shri Mingma Norbu Sherpa also co-chaired the technical session on the topic “ Financial Business and Budgetary Process in Parliament”.
In addition, the meeting of the "Committee of Presiding Officers to Review the Committee System" was also conveyed. The meeting comprised Hon’ble Shri Narendra Singh Tomar, Speaker,Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly, who is also the Chairman of the Committee; Hon’ble Shri Vasudev Devnani , Speaker, Rajasthan Legislative Assembly; Hon’ble Shri Satish Mahana , Speaker, Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly; Hon’ble Shri Kuldeep Singh Pathania , Speaker, Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly and Hon’ble Smt. Surama Padhy , Speaker, Odisha Legislative Assembly. The committee adopted the final report of the "Committee of Presiding Officers to Review the Committee System".
