Parliamentary Permanent Committee on Home Affairs paid courtesy visit to Hon'ble Governor Mr. Om Prakash Mathur
Departmental Parliamentary Permanent Committee of Central Home Affairs (DRPSC) who came on a three-day study tour of Sikkim paid a courtesy visit to the Hon'ble Governor at Lok Bhawan today.
Committee President and Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Governor welcomed this delegation led by Radha Mohan Das Aggarwal in Lokbhavan. During the meeting there was detailed discussion on Sikkim's border security management, disaster management, infrastructure development and effective implementation of various centre-sponsored welfare schemes going on in the state.
On this occasion, the Governor informed the committee that Sikkim is strategically a sensitive state due to being surrounded by international borders, where both security and development are of utmost importance.
Mr. B, MP in the delegation in this courtesy visit. Y. Raghavendra, Mohammad Hamdullah Saeed and Mrs. Delkar Kalaben Mohanbhai were included. During this time, senior officer of Rajya Sabha Secretariat Joint Secretary Mr. A. What. Mallik and director Shri Har Pratik Arya were also present.
The chairman of the committee Dr. Radha Mohan Das Aggarwal informed the Governor that the main objective of this study tour is to ground inspect the state's border areas, assess emerging security challenges, communicate with Indian Army soldiers to understand their difficulties and review the implementation of central sponsored schemes Is it.
The Hon'ble Governor appreciated these efforts of the Parliamentary Committee and expressed hope that this visit will give a new pace to the overall development of Sikkim.
