Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan Observed at Rangpo Municipal Hall
Rangpo, June 23: As part of the nationwide Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, an awareness programme was successfully conducted at Rangpo Municipal Hall under the joint initiative of Rangpo Nagar Panchayat (RNP) and DAC Pakyong.
The programme was graced by the Chief Guest, Shri Sanjeev Khati, President, Rangpo Nagar Panchayat. Also present were Mrs. Sanju Manger, Vice President, Rangpo Nagar Panchayat, along with Councillors Shri Pinku Prasad, Mrs. Radha Pradhan, and Mrs. Larishna Tamang.
Other distinguished guests included Shri Swaminath Prasad, Sikkim Bihari Jagran Manch, and Shri Kaushal Lamichaney, SC Wing. The event was attended by officials and staff of Rangpo Nagar Panchayat, dignitaries, stakeholders, and members of the local public.
The programme commenced with a welcome address delivered by Ms. Natasha Pariyar.
An informative session on Mental Health Awareness and Well-being was conducted by Dr. Nikhil, Medical Officer In-Charge (MOIC), Rangpo, along with Shri Dinesh Shanker, Health Educator, Rangpo, highlighting the importance of mental well-being in preventing substance abuse.
A session on Mobile Addiction was presented by Mrs Ashmita Tamang, Sarathi 1.0 (Chief Coordinator ), who spoke on the growing challenges of digital dependency and its impact on society, particularly among the youth.
Addressing the legal aspects of substance abuse and drug prevention, Shri Sagar, Police Inspector (PI), Rangpo Police Station, elaborated on the legal consequences of drug-related offences and the importance of community participation in combating the menace.
A session on Strategic Measures and Ways to Overcome Addiction was delivered by Shri Bishal Sharma, APS Pakyong and President, Sarathi 1.0, who emphasized awareness, prevention, rehabilitation, and collective responsibility in addressing substance abuse.
An experience-sharing session by Shri Kaushal Lamichaney, SC Wing, provided valuable insights and inspired participants through personal reflections on the importance of leading a drug-free life.
In his address, Chief Guest Shri Sanjeev Khati, President, Rangpo Nagar Panchayat, underscored the importance of collective efforts from government agencies, educational institutions, families, and society in building a drug-free community. He encouraged the youth to stay away from substance abuse and actively contribute towards a healthier and more responsible society.
The programme echoed the vision and commitment of Shri Prem Singh Tamang (Golay), Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim, towards fostering a healthy, aware, and drug-free society. Such initiatives continue to strengthen the collective resolve to build a Sunaulo, Samriddha ani Samartha Sikkim.
The programme concluded with a collective pledge to strengthen the fight against substance abuse and work towards a Nasha Mukt Bharat and a Nasha Mukt Sikkim.
