NIELIT Gangtok and Department of Information Technology, Government of Sikkim Launch Advanced Cyber Security Training Programme for IT Cadre Officials.
The National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), Gangtok, in collaboration with the Department of Information Technology (DIT), Government of Sikkim, has commenced a month-long training programme on Advanced Cyber Security Techniques for officials under the IT Cadre of the Government of Sikkim.
The programme started on 16th June 2026 with the first batch comprising 25 Programmers and Assistant Programmers drawn from various departments of the State Government. The initiative has been designed in response to the growing need for strengthening cyber security awareness and enhancing the technical capabilities of government officials in addressing emerging cyber threats.
The training programme will provide participants with comprehensive exposure to contemporary cyber security challenges and mitigation strategies, including cyber attack detection and prevention, system and network security, operating system hardening, vulnerability assessment, secure configuration practices, and other advanced cyber security techniques essential for safeguarding digital infrastructure.
Over the course of one month, the programme aims to train 100 officials under the IT Cadre through multiple batches. The training is expected to equip participants with the knowledge and practical skills required to navigate the rapidly evolving technological landscape and implement robust cyber security measures in their respective workplaces.
The initiative reflects the commitment of the Government of Sikkim and Govt of India towards strengthening cyber resilience and enhancing the cyber security preparedness of its workforce in line with the growing digital transformation across government departments.
