The Department of AYUSH, Government of Sikkim, conducted a Homoeopathic health awareness and prophylactic medicine distribution programme for the first batch of Kailash Mansarovar Yatris travelling through the Nathu La route.
The first batch of pilgrims arrived in Sikkim on 15 June 2026. On 16 June 2026, during the briefing and orientation programme organized by the Sikkim Tourism Development Corporation (STDC) ,Department of Tourism at a hotel in Gangtok, Dr. Adarsh Sharma, Medical Officer (Homoeopathy), Department of AYUSH, addressed the pilgrims on health and wellness, altitude-related illnesses, preventive measures, and safe travel practices during the pilgrimage.
During the session, Dr. Adarsh highlighted the importance of acclimatization and explained the role of Homoeopathic Medicine COCA 30 as a prophylactic measure for Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS). The Department of AYUSH distributed COCA 30 free of cost to all pilgrims and accompanying officials.
On 17 June 2026, a Homoeopathic Awareness Camp was conducted at the 18th Mile Acclimatization Centre, where health assessments of the pilgrims were carried out. The programme included monitoring of vital parameters such as oxygen saturation (SpO₂), blood pressure, and pulse rate, along with screening for symptoms associated with mountain sickness. Homoeopathic medicines were distributed to all participants.
The first batch comprised 41 Yatris, 2 Liaison Officers (LOs), and 1 Medical Officer (MO), and all members of the batch received the medicines and participated in the awareness programme.
The Department of AYUSH expressed satisfaction with the enthusiastic response received from the pilgrims, who appreciated the initiative and this awareness along with distribution of Homeopathy medicine would be given to rest 9 batches of pilgrims travelling to Kailash Mansarovar.
The Department of AYUSH, Government of Sikkim, extends its sincere gratitude to the Sikkim Tourism Development Corporation (STDC) ,Tourism Department for giving this opportunity to successfully organize this Homeopathy awareness and medicine distribution programme. Their assistance contributed significantly to promoting the health, safety, and well-being of the Kailash Mansarovar Yatris undertaking this sacred pilgrimage.
