Khet Bachao Abhiyan and PM-KISAN Saturation Drive Conducted at Linkey Parakha  GPU, Parakha Block.
Pakyong, June 15: As part of the nationwide Khet Bachao Abhiyan (Save the Field Campaign) and the ongoing PM-KISAN Saturation Drive, a farmer awareness programme was conducted at Linkey Parakha GPU under Parakha Block. The programme aimed to create awareness on sustainable agriculture, organic farming, post-harvest management, horticulture development schemes, government welfare programmes, KCC and PM-KISAN saturation. The programme was jointly organised by the Agriculture Department, Horticulture Department and ATMA, Pakyong, in coordination with KVK and CAEPHT.  
The programme was graced by Smt. Chandra Kala Chettri as the Chief Guest. The event witnessed the active participation of Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Associate Professor, CAEPHT; Dr. P.H. Balashwar Sharma, Associate Professor, CAEPHT;Smt. Menuka Rai, Horticulture Development Officer (HDO); Shri Tashi Gyamtso Bhutia,Agriculture Development Officer (ADO), Parakha Block; Smt. Sabina Gurung, Agriculture Inspector (AI); officials from Agriculture, Horticulture and ATMA; field functionaries; and farmers from the area.  
The programme commenced with a welcome address and overview by Shri Tashi Gyamtso Bhutia, Agriculture Development Officer (ADO), Parakha Block, who welcomed the dignitaries and participants and highlighted the objectives of the Khet Bachao Abhiyan and PM-KISAN Saturation Drive. He emphasised the importance of protecting agricultural land, enhancing farm productivity through sustainable agricultural practices, and ensuring PM-KISAN coverage for all eligible farmers.  
During the technical session, Dr. P.H. Balashwar Sharma, Associate Professor, CAEPHT delivered an informative presentation on organic packages of practices, sustainable agriculture, and soil health management. He emphasized the importance of maintaining soil fertility, adopting eco-friendly farming practices, and promoting sustainable agriculture for long-term productivity and environmental conservation.  
This was followed by an address from Smt. Menuka Rai, Horticulture Development Officer (HDO), who provided detailed insights into various horticulture development schemes and highlighted opportunities for income enhancement and crop diversification through horticulture-based interventions.
Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Associate Professor, CAEPHT, conducted a technical session on post-harvest management and agricultural marketing. He elaborated on scientific handling, storage, value addition, and marketing of agricultural produce, particularly crops such as ginger, to minimize post-harvest losses and improve farmers’ income.  
The keynote address was delivered by Smt. Chandra Kala Chettri, who appreciated the efforts of the Agriculture Department and allied departments in organising the programme. She encouraged farmers to actively participate in government initiatives, adopt modern and sustainable farming practices, and take advantage of the various schemes and support mechanisms available for agricultural development.  
The programme concluded with an interactive discussion session during which farmers actively participated and raised queries related to organic farming, sustainable agriculture, horticulture development, post-harvest management, PM-KISAN, and government welfare schemes. The resource persons addressed the concerns of the farmers and provided technical guidance and recommendations.
The vote of thanks was proposed by Smt. Sabina Gurung, Agriculture Inspector (AI), Parakha Block, who expressed gratitude to the Chief Guest, resource persons, officials, farmers, and all stakeholders for their active participation and support in making the programme a success.  
The programme provided valuable knowledge and awareness on sustainable agriculture, organic farming, horticulture development, post-harvest management, and PM-KISAN saturation, thereby contributing towards improved farm productivity, livelihood security, and the overall development of the farming community in Parakha Block. The programme was coordinated by the Agriculture Department, Horticulture Department and ATMA, Pakyong, in coordination with KVK and CAEPHT.
