Khet Bachao Abhiyan and PM-KISAN Saturation Drive Conducted at Singhik Sentam GPU
Mangan, June 10: The Khet Bachao Abhiyan was successfully conducted today at Singhik Sentam GPU with active participation from farmers and departmental officials.
The programme was led by Deputy Director of Agriculture, Shri Pranit Gurung, and moderated by Agriculture Inspector Mrs. Bimla Subba.
The programme was attended by Mr. Palden Bhutia, SMS (Soil Science), KVK Mangan; Mr. Padam Gurung, Deputy Director; Ms. Chimi Yangzom Lepcha, Agriculture Development Officer (ADO), Mangan; departmental staff; and farmers from the GPU.
During the programme, Shri Palden Bhutia (SMS) sensitized farmers on the importance of maintaining soil health and protecting agricultural land for enhanced productivity and long-term sustainability.
ADO Mangan, Ms. Chimi Yangzom Lepcha, briefed the farmers on various departmental schemes and emphasized the importance of availing government support programmes for improving farm productivity and adopting sustainable agricultural practices.
Deputy Director Shri Pranit Gurung highlighted the Department's ongoing agricultural initiatives and encouraged farmers to take up oilseed crops such as sunflower, niger, soybean, and sesame. He informed that seeds of these crops are available with the Department and will be provided to interested farmers for cultivation. Vegetable seeds were also distributed to farmers under the Vibrant Village Programme (VVP) under his guidance.
As part of the event, a PM-KISAN Saturation Drive was conducted under the leadership of Deputy Director Shri Padam Gurung to ensure that all eligible farmers are enrolled under the scheme and are able to avail themselves of its benefits.
The Khet Bachao Abhiyan will continue its outreach activities across other GPUs in the coming days, ensuring that more farming communities benefit from awareness programmes and support services offered by the Department of Agriculture.
