Dr. Mangal Jit Rai Invites Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Cooperation & Civil Aviation to National Cooperative Conference at SICUN, Sikkim
Dr. Mangal Jit Rai, Chairman of the Sikkim State Cooperative Union (SICUN) met Murlidhar Mohol, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Cooperation, Government of India, at his office in Rajiv Gandhi Bhawan, New Delhi.
During the meeting, Dr. Rai formally invited the Hon’ble Minister to grace the National Cooperative Conference, proposed to be organized by SICUN on 21 June 2026 at SICUN, Sikkim, in collaboration with the Cooperation Department, Government of Sikkim.
Dr. Rai briefed the Hon’ble Minister on the objectives and significance of the conference, which aims to bring together policymakers, cooperative leaders, academicians, researchers, development institutions and stakeholders from across the country to deliberate on emerging opportunities, innovations, challenges and policy reforms in the cooperative sector.
The conference will be organized under the theme: “Sahkar Se Samriddhi: Cooperatives Driving Inclusive Growth, Innovation and Sustainable Development for Viksit Bharat.”
The proposed conference is aligned with the vision of the Ministry of Cooperation, Government of India, and the national mission of “Sahkar Se Samriddhi,” emphasizing cooperative led inclusive growth, rural prosperity, self-reliance and sustainable development.
During the interaction, Dr. Rai highlighted the significant role of cooperatives in empowering farmers, women, youth and rural communities. He informed the Hon’ble Minister that the conference would focus on cooperative reforms, digital transformation, agricultural and dairy cooperatives, entrepreneurship, capacity building, good governance and sustainable livelihood models. Special emphasis will be given to showcasing the achievements and best practices of cooperatives from Sikkim and the North Eastern Region.
Shri Mohol appreciated SICUN’s initiative in organizing a national level conference in Sikkim and acknowledged the vital contribution of cooperatives towards inclusive socio-economic development. He conveyed his best wishes for the success of the programme and appreciated the efforts being undertaken to strengthen the cooperative movement across the country.
Dr. Rai also informed the Hon’ble Minister that he has formally invited the Secretary, Ministry of Cooperation, Government of India, and the Additional Secretary, Ministry of Cooperation to grace the conference.
The National Cooperative Conference is expected to witness participation from representatives of the Ministry of Cooperation, NCDC, NCUI, NCDFI, ICMAI, NABARD, cooperative unions and federations, academicians, experts and cooperative leaders from across India.
The conference is envisioned as a premier national platform for policy dialogue, knowledge exchange, capacity building and the promotion of innovative cooperative models, contributing towards the realization of the vision of “Sahkar Se Samriddhi” and the goal of building a Viksit Bharat.
