Field Visit Conducted in Patuk–Singbel GPU under Rakdong–Tintek BAC
Gangtok, 4 June 2026:
A comprehensive field inspection was conducted today across various locations under the Rakdong–Tintek area, including Patuk–Singbel, Makha, Kokaley, Tumin Barang, Raalay, Kambal, Tintek Marchak, and Tintek Khola, by the District Administration led by Shri Rohan Ramesh Agawane, IAS, District Collector, Gangtok.
The inspection team comprised Shri Suren Tamang, SDM Rabdang; Shri Sonam Wongyal Lepcha, Joint Director, District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Gangtok; the Block Development Officer, Rakdong–Tintek; members of the concerned Gram Panchayats Units, officials from GREF/BRO and representatives of Shivalik Builtech Pvt. Ltd.
The visit commenced from Dhamilay Khola in Singbel and covered several public institutions and key locations, including Makha Senior Secondary School, Singbel Junior High School, Upper Singbel ICDS Centre, and Upper Kokaley ICDS Centre. During the inspection, teachers and staff of these institutions apprised the District Collector of various challenges related to infrastructure, accessibility, and other operational issues affecting the effective delivery of educational and childcare services.
The team also visited several sites identified by local residents and Gram Panchayat representatives as areas of concern. During the interaction, the Panchayat members highlighted issues such as deteriorating road conditions, disruptions caused by unmanaged water flow, and other infrastructure-related challenges affecting public safety, connectivity, and the daily lives of residents.
Following on-site assessments and detailed discussions with stakeholders, the District Collector issued necessary directions to officials of GREF/BRO for the timely restoration and improvement of road infrastructure. Instructions were also issued to undertake appropriate remedial measures to address drainage-related concerns and other issues raised by the local communities.
Emphasis was laid on ensuring coordinated and time-bound action among all concerned departments and agencies to effectively mitigate the challenges faced by the residents and strengthen public infrastructure across the area.
The District Administration reaffirmed its commitment to addressing public grievances through regular field inspections, active stakeholder engagement, and coordinated efforts with all concerned departments and agencies to ensure the welfare and development of the region.
