Khet Bachao Abhiyan Launched in Namchi District
Namchi, 4 June : The Khet Bachao Abhiyan was officially flagged off at the Chumlok Agriculture Office, Sikkip Block, Namchi District in the presence of Hon’ble Vice Panchayat President Shri Kiran Yakha, Deputy Director Dr Nation Rai, Agriculture Development Officer Shri Bijay Pradhan , KVK SMS, Agriculture Inspector and other agriculture/horticulture officials.
Khet Bachao Abhiyan (Save the Farm Campaign) is a nationwide month long agricultural campaign being observed from June 1 to June 30, 2026 under the leadership of the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare. During this drive, officials are converging multiple farmer welfare schemes at the village level, informing about judicious use of bio fertilisers, Integrated Nutrient Management, green manuring,etc. Enrolment of farmers under schemes such as PM KISAN, KCC, and PMFBY is also being carried out.
Village level awareness programmes, field demonstrations, and Farmer Registry drives will be conducted across the district in collaboration with ATMA,Agriculture Department and Krishi Vigyan Kendra. Officials emphasized that the campaign will further strengthen sustainable and organic farming practices in Sikkim while enhancing farmers’ income and resilience.
