Ravangla, Namchi District, 28 May : The President of Sikkim Cricket Association (SICA), Shri Tika Subba, along with Coach Shri Bikash Pradhan, visited the ongoing “Ravangla Sub Divisional Level First Ever T20 Cricket Tournament” at Mt. Narsing Community Ground, 14th Mile, Ravangla, to review the matches and interact with players, organisers and the management team.
During the visit, the dignitaries appreciated the successful organisation of the tournament and encouraged the participating youths and players to actively engage in sports activities for building a healthy and disciplined society. They also assured necessary support and cooperation from the Sikkim Cricket Association towards the promotion and development of cricket in Ravangla in the near future.
The programme was attended by Additional Political Secretary to Hon’ble Chief Minister, Namchi District, Shri Bishnu Sharma; Hon’ble Presidents of Kewzing Bakhim GPU and Rabong Barfung GPU; ADC Development Ravangla Shri D.P. Dahal; SHO Ravangla; FI Ravangla; AE & JEs of Roads & Bridges Department; AE & JEs of RDD; US RDD; Youth Convenor Barfung Shri Sonny Subba, along with local youths, sports enthusiasts and participating players.
The tournament is being organised under the patronship of Hon’ble Area MLA, 09-Barfung Constituency, Shri Riksal Dorjee Bhutia and is being conducted on the occasion of the 50 Years of Sikkim Statehood.
The event also reflects the vision of “Sunaulo, Samriddha and Samartha Sikkim” of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim, Shri Prem Singh Tamang (Golay), with a strong emphasis on building a healthy, disciplined and addiction-free society through active participation of youths in sports and constructive activities under the mission of “Nasha Mukt Sikkim”.
The organisers informed that the tournament has witnessed enthusiastic participation from various blocks under Ravangla Sub-Division and has become a significant platform for encouraging grassroots cricket talent and promoting unity, sportsmanship and positive youth engagement in the region.
