Subject: Seventh Convocation of Sikkim University to be held on May 27, 2026
Sikkim University is a Central University established by an Act of Parliament in 2007 with the vision of fostering intellectual, academic, and cultural development in the Eastern Himalayan region. The University is committed to contributing to the nation-building process by mobilising the rich intellectual heritage of Sikkim, nurturing creative talent, and developing itself into a premier national institution.
Convocation is one of the most significant occasions and an important milestone in the institutional journey of the university, celebrating the academic achievements of its students and the collective efforts of faculty and staff members. The Seventh (VII) Convocation of Sikkim University is scheduled to be held on 27th May 2026. The Hon’ble President of India and Visitor of Sikkim University, Smt. Droupadi Murmu has graciously consented to attend the Convocation Ceremony as the Chief Guest. The Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim and Chief Rector of Sikkim University, Shri Om Prakash Mathur, and the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim, Shri Prem Singh Tamang (Golay) will be present as Guests of Honour.
A total of 13,782 degrees will be awarded during the Convocation Ceremony. These include degrees conferred upon students of Undergraduate (UG), Postgraduate (PG), M.Phil., and Ph.D. programmes across 33 departments organized under six Schools of Studies and 18 affiliated colleges of the University for the academic years 2023, 2024 and 2025.
In recognition of outstanding academic performance, 285 meritorious students will receive Gold and Silver Medals, of which 199 recipients are women. In addition to these nine special medals will also be awarded during the Convocation.
The Seventh Convocation marks another milestone in the academic journey of Sikkim University and reflects its continued commitment to excellence in higher education and holistic development in the region.
