Gangtok, 13th May: Officials of the Sikkim State Rural Livelihood Mission (SRLM), led by Chief Executive Officer Shri R.B. Bhandari, along with the Joint CEO Mrs Srijana Chhetri, BDO Renock Sri Ram Kumar Gurung, BDO Regu BAC, Chairperson Cooperation Department Mrs Bidhya Biswakarma, Chairperson Commerce and Industries Department Mrs Nimchiki N. Sherpa, Project Manager (Livelihood) Bedhna Subba, and Deputy Project Manager (SISD) Yashna Gurung, conducted official visit to Regu and Rhenock Blocks to review the progress of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and livelihood initiatives.
At Regu Block, the team interacted with SHG members and rural entrepreneurs at BAC Regu Hall and inspected a handicraft unit, the waste management unit at Phadamchen, and the IFC–LSC established under NRLM. The officials emphasised the importance of skill development, technical support, and market linkage to strengthen sustainable livelihoods for SHG members.
In Rhenock Block, the visiting officials inspected enterprise units, shops, the BDS Office, and the SRLM Block Office. The programme was attended by Panchayati Raj Institution representatives, block officials, BDS members, community cadres, and SHG members.
The chief executive officer has appreciated the dedication and collective efforts of SHGs and community institutions in promoting rural entrepreneurship and sustainable livelihoods across the region.
