Sikkim Delegation Attends Nepal Paragliding Premier League in Dharan.
Namchi, 10 May : The 1st Nepal Paragliding Premier League (NPPL) Open Accuracy Championship, organised by the National Sports Council of Nepal in collaboration with the Nepal Paragliding and Hang Gliding Association, commenced with grandeur at Dharan, drawing participation from prominent personalities associated with adventure tourism and aerial sports.
Hon’ble Zilla Adakshya of Namchi District, Ms. Anjita Rajlim, was specially invited by the Organising Committee as a distinguished guest following the grand success and growing international recognition of the “Go Sadam” initiative in Sikkim. She was accorded a warm welcome by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Koshi Province, Mr. Hikmat Karki, along with Organising Committee President Mr. Bhupendra Chamling and other dignitaries.
During the interaction, organizers highlighted the growing international recognition of the “Go Sadam” initiative, acknowledging Sikkim’s emergence as an important destination for adventure tourism and sustainable travel experiences in Sikkim. The Nepali organisations also expressed their commitment to extending cooperation and support towards the promotion of adventure sports activities in Sikkim in the future.
Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Rajlim elaborated on the visionary leadership and developmental initiatives of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim, Mr. PS Golay, particularly in strengthening tourism infrastructure and promoting youth participation in adventure and eco-tourism activities.
She further conveyed gratitude to the Hon’ble Minister for Tourism & Civil Aviation, Mr. TT Bhutia, and senior departmental officials for their support and coordination.
The delegation accompanying the visit included Joint Director, Tourism & Civil Aviation Department, Namchi, Mrs. Lamin Theengh, departmental colleagues, members of the Himalayan Footprint Cooperative Society, Community-Based Tourism expert Mr. Sunil Lama, and several homestay owners from Sikkim.
The participation is expected to further strengthen tourism relations and regional cooperation between Sikkim and Nepal in the field of adventure tourism and community-based travel initiatives.
