Gangtok, 8th May, 2026: The 3-Day Capacity Building Programme for AEOs and CRCCs concluded today at DIET Gangtok.
A three-day Capacity Building Programme for Assistant Education Officers (AEOs) and Cluster Resource Centre Coordinators (CRCCs) from the districts of Gangtok, Pakyong, and Mangan was successfully conducted from 6th to 8th May 2026 at the ICT Room of DIET Gangtok, Centre of Excellence, in collaboration with the Education Department, IT Section.
The programme commenced with an inaugural ceremony graced by Dr. Shantiram Adhikari, Director, SCERT, as the Chief Guest. The ceremony was further honoured by the presence of Ms. Tshering Yangchen Bhutia, Joint Director, IT Section, Education Department, as the Special Guest. Their addresses emphasised the importance of strengthening both digital competencies and academic leadership among AEOs and CRCCs.
During the first two days, sessions were conducted by resource persons, who were Mr. Sonam Mingyur Lepcha and Mr. Riwaz Rai from the IT Department, Government of Sikkim. Their sessions focused on basic computer usage like MS Excel, MS Power Point, MS Word, Google Form, E Office, Cyber Security and iGOT Registration, equipping participants with essential digital skills required for effective administrative and academic functioning.
The third day featured sessions on academic roles and responsibilities by the Principal and Faculty of DIET. Ms. Durga Shrestha, Senior Lecturer, conducted a session on Understanding Self with the Mirror and Windows activity. This was followed by a session by Ms. Aroona Pradhan, Senior Lecturer, who took a session on unveiling NEP 2020 and engaged the participants with case studies, encouraging reflective thinking and problem-solving in real school contexts.
Further, the last session was conducted by the Principal on academic roles and responsibilities in the school with classroom monitoring and framing of the school development plan targeting the key concern areas. The programme was also attended by Tshering L. Bhutia, who urged the participants to continuously monitor the academic progress of the school and actively support the effective implementation of various programmes under the Education Department.
Overall, the programme was highly enriching and provided a balanced blend of technical skills and academic insights, empowering AEOs and CRCCs to perform their roles more effectively in alignment with the goals of NEP 2020.
