Hon'ble Governor of Sikkim Mr. Om Prakash Mathur visited Chhaten, Lachen area today on the first day of his three-day North Sikkim trip. He dedicated a total of 164 public welfare development projects conducted under the 'Operation Goodwill' of the Indian Army in Lachen to the people of Lachen and Lachung, which were handed over to the Pipon of Lachen and Lachung.

These projects specifically include strengthening the healthcare structure, youth empowerment, firefighters, community welfare facilities, tourism enrichment, women empowerment and road development by BRO. These initiatives are expected to significantly improve the quality of life of locals living in remote areas. Before the ceremony, Chief Engineer Swastik gave a detailed briefing of these latest projects to the Governor.
The Hon'ble Governor addressed the function, saying, "The Indian Army's 'Operation Goodwill' is a symbol of development, harmony and trust in the remote areas of Sikkim. These efforts made by the army, even in difficult circumstances, reflect their unbreakable commitment to the Sikkim residents. With the collective effort of the military and the local community, we will make this region stronger and more prosperous. ”
During the visit, the Governor openly interacted with the locals and became aware of their challenges. On the way, the Governor also inspected the recently inaugurated Taramachu bridge. This bridge has reconnected Lachen to other parts of Sikkim. This is expected to give a new pace to tourism and the local economy.
