Honourable Governor of Sikkim on a three-day visit to Mangan District
Gymnasium Hall was inaugurated at Chungthang GPU towards the reconstruction and development of the adopted village.
Hon'ble Governor of Sikkim Mr. Om Prakash Mathur inaugurated the newly constructed Gymnasium Hall at Chungthang Gram Panchayat Unit of Mangan District. This is the Gram Panchayat unit adopted by the Governor of the Gram Panchayat unit.
This is a significant achievement in reconstruction of the Chungthang area completely damaged by the devastating floods of 2023. The villagers had long demanded renovation of the gymnasium hall. The Governor took cognizance on his demand and dedicated it to the public by getting a complete renewal. The work was also sponsored by the Governor's Office.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony, the Honourable Governor said, "Chungthang is part of my adopted village. I promised the shortcomings in this area would be removed. The flooding of 2023 had damaged the people here a lot, but with the administration and the determination of the people, restoration is being done here.
The Hon'ble Governor said that together we will make this area better not only than before, but will establish it as a model developed village. He said the gymnasium hall would become a new energy hub for the physical and mental development of locals.
Region MLA and Hon'ble Minister of Women and Child Development Department Mr. Samdup Lepcha, expressed his gratitude to the Governor and said that the Governor's commitment towards the adopted village is commendable. He described this development work as an exemplary step in serving the public.
The villagers also demanded the community hall during the function. The Governor has assured to give full cooperation by accepting his demand.
Mangan's DC Mr. Anant Jain, Superintendent of Police Mr. L.B. Chettri, other district officers, public representatives and a large number of local villagers were present on this occasion.
The Chungthang Gram Panchayat Unit has been specially adopted by the Governor to ensure the overall development of the area affected by the floods of 2023. The inauguration of the gymnasium hall is an important step in this direction.
