Press release from District Administrative Centre, Gangtok
Information & Public Relations Department
The Food & Civil Supplies Department, Government of Sikkim, has constituted a District-Level Committee under the chairmanship of the District Collector, Gangtok, comprising representatives from all relevant departments to monitor and address issues related to LPG supply in the district.
A meeting of the Committee was held on 31st March 2026 at the DAC Mini Conference Hall, Gangtok, with participation from officials of all concerned departments.
This is followed by the State Level Meeting on Essential Commodities conducted on 30/03/2026 under the Chairmanship of the Honourable Chief Minister. The Committee reviewed the current status of LPG supply and deliberated on measures to ensure its smooth and equitable distribution among beneficiaries.
To enable prompt redressal of LPG-related grievances, a dedicated 24×7 Control Room has been established at the District Control Room, MG Marg, Gangtok.
Members of the public may contact the Control Room at 03592-204995 or 8768884346 (Mobile) for assistance.
The Control Room is being managed by four Inspector-rank officials from the Food & Civil Supplies Department, supported by personnel from the District Disaster Management Authority, Gangtok:
• Naren Ghaley (Inspector) – 8001224235
• Adith Manger (ASI) – 8327843100
• Raju Tamang (ASI) – 8145894185
• Tshering Thendup Bhutia (SI) – 8145315154
The District Collector apprised the Committee of the prevailing LPG supply situation in the district. In view of potential constraints, all departments and agencies have been advised to instruct contractors and site in-charges to adopt alternative energy sources at labour camps, construction sites, and project locations, wherever practicable. This is intended to ease pressure on domestic LPG supplies during the current period.
The Committee also discussed the development of a digital database of LPG beneficiaries to prevent hoarding and ensure transparency in distribution. LPG distributors have been directed to provide advance information regarding supply availability to help beneficiaries plan accordingly, given the limited daily supply.
The District Administration, Gangtok, appeals to all citizens to cooperate and use LPG judiciously to ensure its efficient and equitable distribution. The public is also requested to inform the control room regarding shortages or black hoarding practices or a rise in LPG prices, if any.
