Pakyong, March 26: The 66th Board Meeting of the Sikkim State Cooperative Union (SICUN) was successfully held on 26th March, 2026 (Thursday) at 11:00 A.M. in the SICUN Board Room under the chairmanship of Dr. Mangal Jit Rai, Hon’ble Chairman of SICUN.
The meeting was attended by Shri Purna Prasad Sharma, Vice Chairman, along with Board Members Shri Hemant Kumar Dahal, Shri Chodup Lepcha, Smt. Tshering Doma Bhutia, Shri Anil Kumar Nepal, Smt. Bishnu Kri. Manger, Smt. Kalpana Gurung and Ms. Sanu Bhutia. The meeting was also graced by the presence of departmentally nominated Board Members and representatives from apex cooperative organizations, including Smt. Anita Subba, Special Secretary, IPR Department; Smt. Rebecca Pradhan, Under Secretary, Planning & Dev.Department; Shri Amit Dhakal, Assistant Registrar, Cooperation Department (Head Office); Shri Premjit Rai, Manager, SIMFED; Shri N. Tashi Sherpa, Accountant, DAC; Shri K.B.Gurung, Dy.Manager, Sikkim Union Union, Shri Phadung Bhutia, Chief Executive Officer & Smt. Indira Sharma, Executive Officer of SICUN.
During the meeting, the board confirmed the minutes of the 65th board meeting and noted the action taken report. Detailed deliberations were held on the achievement and activity reports of various divisions, including the training & capacity building division, cooperative development division, social media & digital communication division, hostel & hospitality division and business & marketing division. The board appreciated the progress made by all divisions and provided valuable guidance for further strengthening their activities.
The board re-approved the proposal for the disposal of the office vehicle bearing Registration No. SK01P1058 (Maruti Alto), considering that it is more than 15 years old.
Approval was also accorded for the removal of de-registered member cooperative societies from the membership list of SICUN as part of membership rationalization. In a significant development, the board approved obtaining membership of the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA), New Delhi, thereby enhancing SICUN’s engagement at the global cooperative platform. The Board further approved the revision of office hours from 10:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M.
Approval was also granted for the celebration of the 24th Foundation Day of SICUN on 2nd April, 2026 along with the annual programme of activities for the year 2026–27 and the budget estimate for the same period. Under agenda item no. 11, with the permission of the chair, several important matters were discussed, including the upcoming cooperative conference at Gangtok; deliberation on the matter concerning the irregular attendance of Accountant, a request to the Cooperation Department to complete audit reporting within the month of April; the disconnection of hathway services and installation of Jio Fiber Wi-Fi and issues related to excess electricity billing and installation of sub-meters.
