Soreng, March 25: The Cooperation Department, Soreng organised a “One Day at School” programme at Khaniserbung Senior Secondary School to spread awareness about cooperatives among students.
The programme was attended by Joint Registrar Smt Moti Rai, along with other officials, including the Assistant Registrar, Cooperative Inspector, Assistant Cooperative Inspector, and Project Assistant. Around 50 students, from primary to senior secondary level, took part in the programme with great interest.
During the session, Assistant Registrar Smt Durga Devi Chettri explained the history and growth of the cooperative movement in the world, India, and Sikkim. She also spoke about the values and principles of cooperatives and how they help in building a strong community.
Cooperative Inspector Shri Yadap Chhetri shared insights on the functioning and formation of cooperatives. He also briefly explained the idea of GPU ward demarcation and the concept of “One GPU, One MPCS”, making it easy for students to understand.
The Principal of the school, Shri Bikram Mukhia, also addressed the students and highlighted the importance of cooperatives in daily life and the role of people in strengthening such institutions.
The programme ended with a vote of thanks by Assistant Cooperative Inspector Smt Sumee Subba, who thanked all the officials, school authorities, and students for their active participation and support.
