Mega input distribution program under the NEH component organised by ICAR NRCO Sikkim.
One training cum input distribution program under NEH grant of ICAR Central Rice Research Institute, Odisha, in collaboration with ICAR RC NEH Tripura Centre and ICAR NRC for Orchids, Sikkim, here at Pragna Bhavan Agartala. The program was inaugurated by Sh Jitendra Majumder, Hon MLA Kakraban Salgarh Assembly and addressed the farmers/growers to harness the benefits from the outreach program of the ICAR institutes and praised the efforts of ICAR institutes for technological support to boost the income of the farmers through creating new avenues.
The program was graced by Dr Arun B Patel, Dean CoF, Dr D Sen, Principal CoA, Dr K Chattopadhaya, PS ICAR CRRI sh Uttam Shah, JD SARS, Govt of Tripura, Dr B Das, Head i/c ICAR RC NEH Tripura Centre and officials from KVKs, Agri/Horticulture Department of Tripura. In the welcome address, Dr SP Das, Director of ICAR NRCO, praised the interest of farmers of Tripura in adopting the new technologies and interest towards diversifying the agriculture-based entrepreneurship skills and expressed gratitude to the ICAR CRRI team for joining hands with ICAR NRCO to promote orchids along with rice in the state.
The event witnessed rice farmers and orchid growers from different districts of Tripura. 95 orchid growers were provided with healthy Dendrobium orchid plants and cocoblocks to grow them additionally in the backyard orchid production units. 400 farmers were given with bio-fortied rice seeds of Tripura Centre under the grant. The event ended with a vote of thanks by Dr Kalaivanan, Scientist, ICAR NRCO.
