Namchi, 24 March : One-day Capacity Building Training on Bio-Medical Waste Management and its Handling was successfully conducted at the Town Hall, organised by the Namchi Municipal Council in collaboration with District Hospital Namchi under the 15th Finance Commission.
The event commenced with the arrival of the Chief Guest, Miss Anjeeta Rajalim, Hon’ble Adhyaksha, Namchi District Zilla Panchayat, along with other dignitaries and participants. This was followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, marking an auspicious beginning.
The training programme was attended by Doctors, Nursing Officers, Nursing staff, ANMs, MPHWs from various Health and Wellness Centres (HWCs), Block Coordinators of BACs under Namchi District, private lab technicians from Namchi and Jorethang, as well as sanitation staff and Safai Mitras from Namchi Municipal Council.
The program began with a welcome address delivered by Dr. Urgen Sherpa, Principal Chief Consultant-cum-District Nodal Officer, District Hospital Namchi. This was followed by the presentation of mementoes to the Chief Guest and other distinguished guests as a token of appreciation.
An informative presentation-cum-awareness session on Bio-Medical Waste Management and its handling was delivered by Mrs. Pema Doma Sherpa, A.D. (Sanitation), District Hospital, Singtam. The session highlighted key aspects of the subject and enhanced awareness among the participants. It was insightful and well-received by all present.
Thereafter, the Chief Guest, Miss Anjeeta Rajalim, Hon’ble Zilla Adhyaksha, delivered an inspiring address, emphasising the importance of proper bio-medical waste management and encouraging responsible practices.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Yogen Syangden, Municipal Executive Officer, Namchi Municipal Council, expressing gratitude to the dignitaries, participants, and organizers for their valuable presence and contributions.
The entire program was smoothly conducted by Miss Punam Rai, DEO, Namchi Municipal Council, who served as the Master of the Ceremony.
Overall, the program was well-organised, informative, and meaningful.
