Hon'ble Governor of Sikkim Mr. Om Prakash Mathur, President of Sikkim Masters Weightlifting Association (SMWA) Shri Lakpa Sherpa and six member team paid a courtesy visit today at Lokbhavan.
The delegation informed the Governor that he recently represented Sikkim for the first time in the 5th National Masters Weightlifting Competition, held in Haryana. The team earned 3 gold medals and 4 silver medals, including the female participants, performing remarkably in this competition.
Hon'ble Governor congratulated the team on this achievement and honoured them by wearing Khada. The Governor said that such achievements take the name of Sikkim to national heights and inspire generations to come.
Team members expressed joy that this respect and encouragement have given them new energy and inspiration. He assured that he will make Sikkim proud by performing even better in the future.
Hon'ble Governor expressed confidence that Sikkim players will make their identity at the international level in the coming days.
