Soreng District, March 24: In compliance with the directives of the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India, the second phase of inspection of  One Stop Centre  Soreng was conducted on 24th March 2026.
The inspection aimed to review the overall functioning of the Centre, including infrastructure, service delivery, case management, and adherence to Mission Shakti guidelines.
The team also assessed accessibility, confidentiality practices, follow-up mechanisms, and beneficiary feedback systems.
The Centre, currently operating from a rented premise at Pragati Chowk, Soreng, presented its services, including emergency response and rescue, psycho-social/Family counselling, medical and legal assistance, and shelter support for women affected by violence.
The inspection was carried out by the following officials on behalf of the Additional District Collector, Soreng: SDM (HQ), Mr Prem K Subba, ASP, Soreng, Mr Parsu Ram Sharma,  (SHO) Soreng, Mr Santa Bahadur Gurung, Medical Officer, PHC Soreng, Dr Abhishek Subba, Senior Welfare Officer, Ms Prativa Tamang, Deputy Director-cum-CDPO, WCSCDWD Soreng District, Ms Gouri Tamang, , NK, Soreng Police Station Mr Bishal Tamang, District Coordinator (Nutrition), WCSCDWD Soreng, Ms Kunta Chettri and Social Welfare Inspector, Ms Barsha Chettri.
Key recommendations included the enhancement of infrastructure, provision of dedicated counselling and waiting spaces, and improved facilities to ensure privacy and accessibility.
Officials also emphasised strengthening public awareness across the district, wider dissemination of the Women Helpline Number 181, and participation in Nari Gram Sabhas to improve outreach.
The visiting team is committed to conducting quarterly inspections to ensure continuous monitoring and improvement.
The inspection concluded on a positive note, reaffirming the Centre’s role in ensuring the safety and well-being of women in Soreng District.
