Dentam PHC Observes World TB Day
Gyalshing,March 24:World TB Day was observed today at Dentam Primary Health Centre(PHC)at the block level under Gyalshing District with great enthusiasm. The programme was conducted under the global theme:
“YES! WE CAN END TB: Led by countries, powered by people.”
The occasion also marked the launch of the second phase of the 100-Day TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, reinforcing the government’s commitment towards eliminating tuberculosis.
World TB Day is observed annually on 24th March to raise awareness about tuberculosis, including its causes, symptoms, prevention, and treatment.
The programme was graced by the presence of Zilla Panchayat Members, including Mr Dinesh Gurung, Panchayat President and members of Dentam GPU;Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Mr NK Karki;Block Development Officer (BDO), Mr Wongdi Tshering Bhutia;Medical Officer In-Charge (MOIC);Medical Officers and Senior Technical Officer; Health Educator; ASHA workers, TB patients, and TB champions, and the staff of Dentam PHC.
The event emphasised the importance of collective and community-driven efforts in eliminating tuberculosis.
Felicitation Ceremony:
The SDM, BDO, and Zilla Panchayat representatives were felicitated in recognition of their continuous support and contributions to public health initiatives.
Recognition and Appreciation:
Certificates of appreciation were distributed to laboratory technicians, ASHA workers, and TB champions for their dedicated service and significant role in TB control and awareness.
Awareness Session:
An informative session was conducted covering:
Causes and transmission of tuberculosis
Signs and symptoms
Preventive measures
Availability of diagnostic and treatment services
Nutritional Support
Food baskets were distributed to TB patients to support their nutritional needs and encourage adherence to treatment.
Special Address:
During the programme,  Zilla Panchayat Mr Dinesh Gurung urged attendees to actively spread awareness about tuberculosis and work towards eliminating the social stigma associated with the disease. They emphasised the importance of collective responsibility in building a TB-free and supportive community.
Conclusion:
The programme concluded successfully with active participation from all stakeholders and a renewed commitment towards achieving a TB-free community. The involvement of healthcare workers, community members, and local governance bodies reflected a strong collective effort in the fight against tuberculosis.
