New Delhi, March 23: In a significant step toward the development of Geo heritage sites and preservation through the proposed Mamley Fossil Park, Shri. Pintso Namgyal Lepcha, Hon’ble Minister for Forest, Science and Technology and Mines and Geology Department, Government of Sikkim, accompanied by the Secretary, Ms Dicky Yangzom IAS, and Principal Director, Mines and Geology Department, Shri P.T. Bhutia, called upon the Hon’ble Union Minister of Mines, Shri G.Kishan Reddy, seeking expedited approvals and assistance for the project. The Hon’ble Union Minister acknowledged the project’s significance and expressed a positive outlook toward facilitating necessary clearances and cooperation.
Subsequently, the Hon’ble Minister,Secretary and P.D paid a courtesy visit to the Union Secretary of the Ministry of Mines, Shri. Piyush Goyal formally submitted the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the project.
During the meeting, the Hon’ble Minister highlighted the scientific, educational, and tourism potential of the Mamley Fossil Park, emphasising its importance in preserving geological heritage and promoting sustainable tourism. The Secretary, Ministry of Mines, appreciated the initiative and assured all possible support from the Ministry for the successful execution of the project.
The coordinated efforts at both administrative and ministerial levels underscore the government’s commitment to advancing the Mamley Fossil Park as a landmark project with national importance.
Further developments are expected as the proposal progresses through evaluation and approval stages.
