One-day Training Programme for All Sikkim Anganwadi Workers, Anganwadi Helpers and Additional Workers Welfare Association Held in Namchi District
Namchi, 20th March: A one-day training programme for the last batch of 30 Anganwadi Workers from Namchi District was successfully conducted under Sarathi 1.0 (Supported by Titan Company Limited), at the South District Offices Club,Namchi, 20th March 2026. Sarathi 1.0 (Supported by Titan Company Limited), is an initiative aligned with the vision of the Honourable Chief Minister, Shri Prem Singh Tamang (Golay), to build an addiction-free and mentally healthy society. The programme aims to reduce substance misuse, promote mental well-being, and inculcate moral values among school children and communities, under the guidance of Shri Rohit Maharaj Ji, Political Advisor to HCM and Chief Resource Person of Sarathi 1.0.
Earlier batches conducted on 15th and 18th February 2026 successfully trained 60 Anganwadi Workers, raising the total number of trained AWWs in Namchi district to 90.
The programme commenced with an engaging ice-breaking session led by Mr. Samir Rai, who served as the Master of Ceremonies. This was followed by a warm welcome address delivered by Ms. Anzila, South District Coordinator. Ms. Tila Rupa Chettri then addressed the gathering on mental health, followed by an insightful session by Shri Bishal Sharma, APS to HCM and Project Director, Sarathi 1.0 along with group activities.
Post lunch, participants engaged in the interactive “Chinese Whisper” game, promoting communication and teamwork.
Ms. Tila Rupa Chettri elaborated on the Sarathi 1.0 initiative and its community-based approach. Ms. Anzila then addressed the participants on addiction awareness, explaining it from a medical perspective as a health condition affecting the brain and behaviour, rather than merely a habit. She also emphasised the importance of Anganwadi Workers being role models, highlighting that their actions and lifestyle choices play a key role in influencing and guiding the community effectively.
The Project Director further conducted a session on Sarathi Samaj formation, followed by short group activities reflecting the objectives of Sarathi 1.0 (supported by Titan Company Limited).
The session was further enriched by the presence of the Special Guest of Honour, Shri Lauxman Tamang, CDPO, who addressed the Anganwadi Workers and provided valuable insights on working more effectively for the betterment of society.
The programme concluded with certificate distribution, and the vote of thanks was delivered by Ms. Tila Rupa Chettri, expressing gratitude to all participants and facilitators for their active participation.
