Regional Ayurveda Research Institute, Gangtok Hosts Webinar on “Ayurvedic Pharmacotherapeutics: Tradition Meets Therapeutics”
The Regional Ayurveda Research Institute, Gangtok, under the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, successfully organized a webinar on “Ayurvedic Pharmacotherapeutics: Tradition Meets Therapeutics” on 17th March 2026 (Tuesday) from 03:00 PM to 05:00 PM in hybrid mode at Regional Ayurveda Research Institute, Gangtok, Sikkim.
The webinar featured expert lectures by eminent speakers. Prof. Dr. Anjan Adhikari, Professor, Department of Pharmacology and MSVP, Calcutta Medical College, delivered a lecture on the basics of pharmacovigilance and understanding drug safety in Ayurveda. Dr. P. V. V. Prasad, Former Director, Central Ayurveda Research Institute, Kolkata, elaborated on the need, scope, and goals of pharmacovigilance for ASU drugs. Dr. Achintya Mitra, Assistant Director In-charge, RARI Gangtok, delivered an insightful talk on integrative pharmacotherapeutics, focusing on balancing benefits and risks.
The programme was smoothly conducted by Dr. Nidhi Rai (JRF – Pharmacovigilance), who served as the anchor for the session. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Sumit Kumar Lata, Consultant (Ayurveda), who expressed gratitude to all the speakers and participants for their valuable contributions.
The webinar witnessed active participation from healthcare professionals, researchers, and students. The programme successfully highlighted the importance of pharmacovigilance in strengthening the safety, efficacy, and rational use of Ayurvedic medicines. This initiative reflects RARI Gangtok’s continued commitment to promoting safe and evidence-based use of medicines through effective pharmacovigilance practices.
