NEW DELHI,March 17: A high-level delegation of Power officials from the Government of Sikkim, led by Shri Sanjeet Kharel, Advisor, Power Department, held a strategic consultative meeting today with senior officials of the Union Ministry of Power (MOP) to discuss key challenges in the state’s transmission and distribution sectors. The discussions focused on modernising Sikkim’s power grid, improving last-mile connectivity, and securing technical and financial support for ongoing energy projects.
The meeting was chaired by Shri Pankaj Agrawal, Secretary, MOP, and attended by Shri Piyush Singh, Additional Secretary, and Shri Shashank Misra, Joint Secretary, MOP. The Sikkim delegation included Shri Bikash Deokota (Secretary, Power), Shri Karma Zamyang Bhutia (CE, Power), Shri Jiwan Thapa (Director, SREDA), Shri Rajendra Gupta (SE, Power), Shri Bhanu Sharma (DE, Power), and Shri Abishek Kharel (OSD, Power Department).

Reducing technical losses and ensuring a stable power supply for domestic and industrial consumers.
• Federal Support: Assurance from MOP officials to streamline approvals and provide resources to enhance Sikkim’s energy security.
The meeting concluded with a mutual agreement to expedite pending power projects, ensuring that Sikkim’s energy infrastructure remains resilient and future-ready.
