Namchi, 17 March : As a part of Jal Mahotsav Pakhwada (8-22 march 2026), a recognition and felicitation event was conducted for the Barefoot Engineers of 13-Bermiok Tokal GPU on 17.03.2026 at Block Administrative Center, Temi Tarku for their excellent contribution in the functionality and maintenance of rural water supply infrastructure.
The program was graced by the presence of Shri. N.T Bhutia, Hon'ble Chairperson, Science and Technology Department, Smt. Khus Maya Tamang, Hon'ble Chairperson, Water Resource Department, Smt. Kanchila Bhutia, Hon'ble Zilla Panchayat, Ben Territorial Constituency, Shri Roshan Rai, Block Development Officer, BAC, Temi Tarku, Shri Surya Vansh Basnett, Assistant Engineer BAC, Temi Tarku, Panchayat Presidents of Bermiok Tokal GPU & Temi GPU, Panchayat members of various wards, Junior Engineers, BAC Temi Tarku.
Block Development Officer, BAC, Temi Tarku, highlighted the importance of Jal Jeevan Mission work that it is not only regarding the household water supply connection but is also about the participation of community, VWSC members, SHGs, and Students for the sustainable distribution of water among all. He also highlighted the importance of mobilisation of Barefoot Engineers and other operators within Gram Panchayat for dedicated supply of water, quality supply of water, operation of assets and periodic maintenance. He informed that as a part of Jal Mahotsav event the Bermiok Tokal GPU under Temi Block have been consistently performing better in the context of functionality of water supply, operation and maintenance and thereby the Barefoot Engineers Mr. Dil Bahadur Rai and other three operators have been nominated for their outperforming work.
Along with the felicitation, demonstration of Feild Testing Kit (FTK) test by JE Temi BAC was also demonstrated as a part of the event.
The certificate of appreciation was handed over to the nominated members by Shri. N.T Bhutia, Chairperson, Science and technology Department, Govt of Sikkim.
