Information & Public Relations Department

Date: 16-Mar-2026
In a landmark initiative of the Hon’ble Chief Minister (HCM) of Sikkim to bring governance to the doorsteps of the citizens, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) has launched a state-wide distribution of welfare assistance to the beneficiaries belonging to the BPL category through all the 34 Block Administrative Centres (BACs).
On 16th March, 2026, many beneficiaries from the BPL category of several BACs received assistance under Chief Minister’s Medical Assistance Scheme (CMMAS), Chief Minister’s Discretionary Grant (CMDG), Chief Minister’s Self-Employment Assistance Scheme (CMSEAS), Sikkim Garib Awas Yojana (SGAY), Chief Minister Education Assistance Scheme (CMEAS), as well as opportunities for government employment.
The programme was held as part of the ‘Mukhyamantri Jan Samvad’ Programme under the ‘Connect to CM’ platform, connected to all the BACs, which was attended by the respective Block Development Officers, OSDs to MLAs, CLC presidents, panchayats and officials from the Chief Minister’s Office.
The distribution of government assistance is being undertaken across the state as announced by the Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri P.S. Tamang (Golay) during the ‘Mukhyamantri Jan Samvad’ Programme on 10th March, 2026, wherein the HCM interacted directly with the beneficiaries through video conference.
The beneficiaries were selected through a rigorous, multi-layered and transparent verification process to ensure that assistance reaches the most genuine citizens belonging to the BPL category. By this platform of ‘Connect to CM’, it ensures that the BPL beneficiaries do not need to travel long distances to government offices, thereby establishing a convenient, economical, and transparent way for citizens to connect with the Hon’ble Chief Minister and the government establishment.
