Press Release Power Department, Soreng District

Information & Public Relations Department

Date: 16-Mar-2026
Date: 16 March 2026
The Power Department, Soreng District, regrets to inform the public that extensive damage has been reported to power lines and related infrastructure due to severe stormy and windy weather experienced on the evenings of 15 February 2026 and 16 March 2026. The impact has been widespread, affecting power structures across the district.
Consumers are strongly advised not to handle or approach any damaged electrical structures under any circumstances. Instead, please immediately report such incidents in the designated consumer groups or directly to the concerned Junior Engineers (JEs) or Division Heads for prompt attention.
Given the scale of the damages, there is a minimal possibility of restoring power supply tonight across the entire Soreng District, particularly in Soreng, Sombaria, and major parts of Kaluk. Considering the severity of the situation, restoration efforts may extend over the next few days.
The Department sincerely regrets the inconvenience caused and appeals for the moral cooperation of all consumers during this challenging period. Our teams are working diligently to restore services at the earliest possible time.
